Define what goes into a product once. Every batch you run then deducts the ingredients and adds the finished goods, without anyone doing the arithmetic.
Production and recipes are included on the Business plan and above. The Starter plan does not include them.
A bill of materials lists what a finished product is made from and in what quantity — flour, sugar, butter, packaging. Define it once per product and it becomes the basis for every batch you run afterwards.
Items can be flagged as components or raw materials, which keeps the ingredient picker showing ingredients rather than your whole catalogue. Superseded recipes are deactivated rather than deleted, so a batch run last month still points at the recipe that was actually used.
A production order says "make this many of this product". When it completes, the ingredients are consumed from the producing location's stock and the finished goods are added — one action, both sides of the movement, no separate adjustment to remember.
If a batch would take stock negative, the system tells you before you commit rather than after. Whether it blocks or warns follows your reservation settings, so a commissary that genuinely runs ahead of its deliveries is not stopped from working, and one that wants a hard stop gets one.
This is what separates making from reselling. A retail-only inventory tool can tell you that you sold twelve cakes. It cannot tell you that those twelve cakes consumed nine kilos of flour — so it cannot tell you when to buy more.
The chain closes end to end. Purchasing brings ingredients in and records what they cost. Production turns them into finished goods at the commissary. Transfers move those goods to the branches that sell them. Ordering deducts them as they are sold. Each step writes its own record, so you can follow a sack of flour from the supplier invoice to the sale.
The production register shows what was produced, when, where and from what, exportable to CSV. Read alongside the purchasing registers and per-supplier price history, it is enough to see what a batch actually costs you rather than what you assumed it cost.
